Exciting new chapter for Cotswolds estate
Barr Build act as principal contractor, alongside a truly exceptional project team.
Barr Group Ltd are proud to be working as Principal Contractor on the upgrades and additions to an historic Cotswold residence.
The build will be carried out alongside an exceptional project team, which includes our client’s project managers Synergy LLP, historic buildings experts Giles Quarme Architects, M&E consultant Aplus, SFK structural engineering, cost consultants Sawyer and Fisher and Studio Ashby interior design.
The scope of works includes the creation of a 165m2 oak-framed pool house with green roof, as well the complete internal and external renovation to the 17th-century stone farmhouse, new stabling, and outbuildings. The build will be supported by sustainable infrastructure, including a cutting-edge ground source heating system, an extensive solar array and cellular storage. The property is set in a magnificent, wooded Gloucestershire valley, which has been developed by successive generations of owners. Our clients’ extensive plans for indigenous biodiverse planting will blend the scheme into the natural environment.
Giles Quarme Architects successfully navigated challenging planning constraints for new additions to the property, particularly given its location within an area of outstanding natural beauty. The owner’s brief was to retain the house’s charm whilst including a range of upgrades to make it a comfortable family home, whilst also exploring how to minimise the property’s carbon footprint.
We thank our clients for allowing us to introduce the project and look forward to following its exciting build journey over the coming months.
